I have been working closely with Dr. Joseph Kozminski, the physics department chair at Lewis University, to bring you Cosmic Pathways Chicago!  It will take place on October 17th at Lewis University.  Stay tuned to details at https://cosmicpathways.org/cosmic-pathways-chicago/

It is going to be a wild physics party for high school and college students that will give students insight into career possibilities.  We are going to celebrate physics, student research, and a whole range of other fields.  Let’s face it, there are so many amazing things for our young people to choose from as far as careers – there are all the types of engineering, physics, chemistry, material science, medical physics, mathematics, computer science, and list goes on and on.  We celebrate everyone and just try to get the facts out and discuss all the opportunities.  For example, I really like to focus on medical physics, and material science.  These are fields that most young students don’t know anything about.  And they are fun, lucrative, and lead to rewarding careers.

We do this in a single day of physics fun with panels, talks, and workshops that help students navigate this crazy world.

Chicago is an important city to me and I am really happy Cosmic Pathways is coming to it.  In the middle of my career, I left physics research and became a management consultant in the transportation industry.  And Chicago is all about transportation!  I was on the road a lot as a consultant and most of that time was spent in Chicago.  For those three years, it was almost a second home for me!  Eventually I came back to physics – but my time in Chicago was amazing!
