Adelphi University’s Physics Department and its Physics Club have developed an interactive Lab for Kids program that directly reaches over 1000+ high school students each year. The Adelphi University (AU) team, made up of students, staff, and faculty, meets with local high school students for a day of fun hands-on physics activities that promote physical sciences and the natural curiosity surrounding these studies. In addition, while our college students are in the high schools, it gives an opportunity for college physics majors network with the high school teacher and administrators about careers in education.
This program was been in operation since before 2012, although we have only recently begun to scale it up. Since 2020, we have been busy. We have gone to at least 10 high schools a year and this number is continuously increasing. This program has helped many students transition into careers in education.
If you would like us to come to your high school please reach out to us at mwright [at] adelphi.edu. Thank you!
