Professor Gene Hecht (Physics) was recognized for the 2019 Adelphi Faculty Scholarship and Creativity Award.

Hecht has published a number of textbooks over the years, including “Optics”, a best seller.

He has also been asking very deep core fundamental physics questions, like what is potential energy? What happens to photons when you run time backwards? While these discussions often give me a headache – because he often asks questions I don’t know how to answer – they are wonderful to discuss.

Another interesting thing about Professor Hecht is that he writes books on Pottery as well. Amazing. He even has his own Wikipedia page.

And in a classic Gene move, he has already started using his award as a coaster. (jk)
