I coughed tonight. Oh No! I started thinking all kinds of terrible thoughts. (It was a cough, ugh – I don’t think I am sick.) “Colleen, what are you going to do when I am not here?”, I whined. Poor Colleen, we should all feel bad for her in her selection of a husband. But that got me thinking what happens to my class if I get sick and can’t teach?
So should I really care about what happens to my class if I or a family member have to go into the hospital? HELL NO! Do whatever it takes to get healthy! But it might make sense to have a way our colleagues can get at my grades or class materials.
How can we do this? Obviously we can keep our gradebook on Moodle. We can keep a gradebook in a shared drive. Likely we will know that we will be getting sick, so keeping our grade books in some logical order that can be quickly given to your colleague who will be on the hook for teaching your class for the rest of the semester would be help. So if you get sick, all you need to do is send one email and done.
I don’t know what the solution is. I wish I did!
