Check this out! Gabi Vidad’s (’21) thesis won the The Warren Eickelberg Prize for the Best Work in the Natural Sciences! Woo Hoo! The announcement is here: https://www.adelphi.edu/honors-college/research/academic-prizes-2020-recipients/

Gabi has a powerful voice and she is good at getting things done. I have enjoyed our time working together. I am not surprised she would win award like this. Her thesis is a continuation of her work at NASA during her REU project last summer. Amazing Gabi!

Her thesis was titled “Exploring and Communicating the Severity of Coral Reef Changes in the Philippines Using Remote Sensing and Widely Available Resources” and while I am listed as her adviser (for Adelphi purposes) the real advisor is Professor Raphe Kudela (@ UC Santa Cruz).

More about her thesis can be found here: https://cosmicpathways.org/2021/05/11/exploring-and-communicating-the-severity-of-coral-reef-changes-in-the-philippines-using-remote-sensing-and-widely-available-resources/
