1. Students Always Follow Instructions.

Me: Please write a paragraph of what you learned on this assignment. Highlight questions you still have and interesting take aways.

Student: KE

2. Small mistakes by me can be frightening for students.

I gave my non-calculus students a calculus online activity. There was a lot of confusion. In the end I think it will work out nicely (Of course after the stress wears down). We brought the level down in class AND they still got to see the formal proof.

3. When you are new, the little things derail you:

It is so hard for me to remember that students might have a hard time separating a mu and a U, if they think they are the same thing. That could REALLY DERAIL you if you are new to this stuff. I had to write this out for a student today and explain. It was a perfect office hours moment. I wish I could catch all of my students misunderstandings like this. THAT WAS PERFECT!
