We are thankful to Jordan Pekor and the rest of the physics faculty at Plainview High School for inviting us to visit them, take over their classroom and teach some cool physics!

In a cool twist of fate, one of the awesome Adelphi students who came to help out today is rising junior mathematics major Sammy Pekor. He is Mr. Jordan Pekor’s nephew! So it was wonderful to have him come and help out with the day. Great work Sammy! He was in charge of explaining how the interferometer worked – something he worked on when he took Modern physics last fall.

Kylie Goldade (rising sophomore in Adelphi Physics) handed explaining how fiber optics work. She was awesome! It pretty good practice for her physics II final which she takes next week.

It is such a great feeling to feel so welcomed at Plainview. The level of questions were great from the students. I think we ended one class talking about how you can build an interferometer of ultracold atoms cooled into a BEC state. It was amazing! Here are some pictures from the day.
