Super proud of Rena Beban! Today she earned Adelphi Physics Honors by defending her thesis, “Numerical Calculations of Atomic Excitation with Nanosecond Pulses”. So Awesome!

I remember in the middle of the pandemic and she was considering majoring in physics. We met once week with our masks on in the physics lab to learn about microcircuits and programming. It was just an informal weekly get together to see if she liked physics. She did and excelled!

I am super proud to have her on my research team. I was so happy when she starting working on these numerical models. And after one crazy year diving deep into the rabbit hole that is the Lindblad operator she has taught ME so much physics. (wait I’m the professor, haha.) I can’t tell you how many times I told Rena, I don’t know. What a fun project!?!?

Rena and I made a tiktok today!

And here are some cool pictures from the thesis defense. (Don’t worry Adelphi, its sparkling cider)
