I am so excited to report that Brad Conrad and I published an article in September’s Physics Today. You can find the article here: https://doi.org/10.1063/PT.3.5307 (PDF Version https://cosmicpathways.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/pt_conrad0923_1st-1.pdf)

So many thoughts on this:

  • I love working with Brad Conrad! I have been fortunate to have worked with him over the last few years. He is just a wonderful person!
  • A special thanks goes to Katie Gifford. She offered some useful suggestions while we were putting this together.
  • I am so proud to have an article in Physics Today. It is a professional milestone that I have always wanted to acheive. From APS’s website: “Physics Today, the flagship publication of the American Institute of Physics (AIP), informs readers about science and its place in the world with authoritative features, news stories, analysis, and fresh perspectives on technological advances and ground-breaking research.”
  • We really need to help students recover from the pandemic, although things are much better than they were when the idea for this article started during PhysCon 2022. We all need to help out (not just professors)!
  • I wrote a connected article last year for the Physics Teacher. https://doi.org/10.1119/5.0133979
  • I am putting together a webinar for AAPT on this topic. More on that later.
