Jason, Luis, and I headed out to Ms. Mueller’s physics class at Westbury HS to do some regular old physics labs. Today we measured the acceleration constant g by smashing pumpkins of course. It was a hoot! Lots of good pictures see below!

Today we tried something new. We brought liquid nitrogren, superconductors, and magnets to see if we could get the magnets to leviate. We did, but it wasn’t so good at moving on the magnetic track. I only got it going all the way around the track once or twice. But otherwise it was just a hoot!

The students really liked it when I froze flowers and then made them crumble.

It was a good experiment. There is more to learn and get better at. Thank you to our chemistry department for providing the liquid nitrogen.

The students loved the pumpkin seeds. They all just started eating them. I couldn’t believe it. I never had raw pumpkin seeds before. I had to try it too. They are much better after being roasted and with a healthy dose of salt.

We will back to Westbury HS soon to do momentum labs with our air track soon!
