So, there are a lot of cats that need to be adopted.  And we have been looking for a new cat or two.  We are reasonable (albeit not perfect) pet people.  You would think it would be easy and the steps would be:

  1. Go to adaption agency
  2. Hang with cats
  3. Find one that jives with you
  4. Walk up to counter and haggle for a bit
  5. Pay some $$$$
  6. Take a cat home.

NO IT AIN’T.

They want an application.  Letters of reference!!!!!  Vet report!  Custody agreements!  And they take your application and decide if you are worthy to take the cat.

I have so many questions. How do they decide if you can take the cat home?  Do they have degrees in psychology or social work?  etc?

So if they were like, “I am sorry, we have a process to make sure people don’t make snap decisions.  You can take your cat home next week…”  That’s fine.  Even understandable.  That is not what happened.

The cat adaption person looked at me with disdain, was rude, and made it seem that my application would not be approved.  WTH?!?!  We just lost our senior citizen cat and piggie to old age and now you are going to judge us as to whether we were good pet owners. I was offended.

Obviously, we left and went to another place.  This one makes you get pre-approved.  I guess that’s better.  So weird!?!?!
