Last night was our physics department’s annual Sigma Pi Sigma celebration.  One of the best nights every year.  It is a wonderful evening to celebrate our department, our seniors, and departmental award winners.  There is food and great conversation.  It is so fun!

At the same time of the event, the Brown and Gold event was running.  Unfortunate timing, but its hard to plan anything this time of the year.  We were delighted to hear that the Adelphi Physics club lead by president Carolina Guekjian and adviser Sean Bentley won a couple of awards last night including Student Organization of the Year!!  I am so proud of them.

This year Adelphi Trustee, Adelphi Physics Alum, and construction engineer superstar Monika Mohacsi gave a really nice keynote address.  There was even some secret good gossip – I won’t be able to share for a couple of weeks.

The night was not without hiccups.  We had a fire alarm and it would not stop so we had to move locations.  Everyone was patient and we made it work!  Special thank you goes to Dean Villa-Cuesta for helping us overcome our fire alarm issues.  And of course, a warm thank you to Professor Sean Bentley and Anne Cowan for setting everything up and putting together such as amazing evening.

Pictures by Anne Cowan: I was having a issue with my phone, I thought it was better to get the images up rather than make it all beautiful.
