Last year in preparing for Cosmic Pathways 2025, we mailed out a bunch of fliers to teachers and professors. Some got them. Some didn’t. It was weird, because I know I put the address on them correctly. They just got lost somewhere along the way.
This year, I was going to solve the problem by hand delivering the fliers to our 15 – 20 schools that are a BFFs. I have no idea what I was thinking would happen.
The morning actually started off exactly how I imagined it would. I stopped off at Rena Beban’s high school in the Bronx (Lehman H.S.). She was waiting there for me, I gave her the packet, a high five, and drove away. We exchanged a “You’re Awesome” and I was on my way.
Then, It went sideways.
Accidents, slow drivers, fast drivers, slow drivers that you try to pass who decide to be fast drivers, there were people who stopped in the middle of the road, People on cell phones, there were security guards (some blocked me), there were maps, stop signs, pedestrians, construction zones, red lights, locked building doors, an emergency bathroom visit, and honking – so much honking. They were honking at me.
I got about eight schools in four hours. I visited many more, it just didn’t work for whatever reason.
It was a terrible dumb idea. Ugh. I should have known.
Well I agreed to sign Be a Shark books in Nexus today. It was the perfect time to stuff all the envelopes and address them. I am mailing the rest of those fliers!
I had a lot of visitors at my table this morning. Surprise! About 15 students total. That’s an order of magnitude higher than I expected. HAHA!

What a great bumper sticker. I love taking pictures of funny bumper stickers and sending them to everyone.
