In a discussion about setting up a lab for kids event at a local high in Long Island, this conversation happened.

Teacher at a local high school: I forgot to ask how much you are charging us to come to [and do lab for kids].

Me: HAHA!!!!! Zero!

The only thing I ask in return is that we continue to look for ways to work together, assuming you are happy with the event.  …

We are doing this because:

1.  Teaching other students physics is a great way to solidify their knowledge, so it is a really powerful event for our students too.

2.  We want to recruit new physics students (in general and at Adelphi)

3.  We are always looking for grant funding that will help us do these kinds of events.  So to get funding you have to already be doing it.

4.  Being a part of these types of events increases the self-efficacy of our students (and yours too)

5.  Building relationships and partnerships with middle and high schools might lead to something amazing and unknown in the future.

6.  Most importantly, it’s fun!
