Today I was at Smithtown West High School hanging with STEM-minded high school students from both Smithtown West and Smithtown East. It was a hoot. I love doing these events! I also love getting to network with all the people from other colleges and local companies.
For starters, they had chick-fil-A for everyone. That was amazingly tasty.
All the other colleges had beautiful admissions exhibits, with fliers, pens, and buttons. And mine was a little messy – to say the least. I had wires and batterys and magnets (SWHS thanks for the save on the magnets) all over the place. But this was a place for STEM students so they were drawn to the science. We had a lot of customers! I had the students build the simple motor. In hinsight, that project was a little aggressive for the time we had. We only had about 10-15 minutes with each student.
Thanks for the Invite Smithtown!
(Its funny, the students used my certificate to do some sanding, its funny to compare the before and after photos. HeHe.)
