How do you know you are doing too much?

After a long day yesterday, I got home to our Christmas tree on the floor. Argh! So I started to work on fixing it. The tree kept falling over. Once it poked me in the eye. Luckily I had my glasses on. But the glasses fell off and got eaten by the tree.

Fast forward to this morning 5 am. I couldn’t find my glasses. I looked everywhere. I remember the tree ate them. So I went to search the tree. Both me and the tree fell over and all the water (about a gallon) came out on my pants, shirt, and socks.

Still couldn’t find the glasses. Well then I melted down. Within 10 minutes I had the entire house up and looking for my glasses. We literally looked everywhere. We went branch by branch on the tree. I went through garbage. I walked around the house with my flash light (cause they might have fallen out of the window), I looked in the barn, etc. After an hour of the entire family searching, they were found under a black bag near the tree in a dark corner.

The tree is still not level. ARGH!!!!

What is going on with the National News?

1 CEO is murdered. And it is a front-line story. What are some of the other news lines which fell under that?

* A mass school shooting

* 7.0 earthquake with Tsunami warnings

* Whatever Trump is up to. While I don’t really care, they usually put Trump first

* Updates on South Korean Martial Law situation

* War updates

I feel bad for the CEO who died, his family that will not have a father, and I am sure all of the people he knew will miss him. Murder isn’t a good thing. It is in fact very bad. And it is news. But does that say about us as a society that we put the CEO of a company over everything else?

Something like 37,000 children died last year. What was the primary cause? Firearms. Read this article here. And the CDC says that there were 25,000 murders last year! Not any of them were front page news. Well except for another Silicon Valley executive who was murdered – he was front page news too.

Erie, PA Runs Hard!

Speaking of the national news, Erie, PA has been the center of its share for the last week. This is because of the large amount of snow that region has been getting. A family member was complaining about how lame the people were who were being interviewed on the national news. Something like, “it was so terrible, I had to eat my Thanksgiving leftovers instead of going to the store and buying steaks.” Getting 4 feet of snow in one day and then like another 12″ each day after creates real problems. People are stuck without medication. Nurses at my father’s assisted living facility were unable to get home and had to sleep there. Others weren’t able to get to work. There were people who lost electricity, etc.

1. Everyone at that family member’s office showed up for work despite getting 12 inches of snow last night

2. My best friend had to drive 30 minutes in a blizzard today to support a family member. He did it. No issue.

3. A neighbor that brought over a tractor to dig my sister’s car out of the snow.

The people in Erie make life happen despite the snow. Erie people run hard. Now that’s the real story!
