I just want to take a moment and acknowledge a couple of people on campus. I have been doing a lot of crazy stuff. And there are people at Adelphi Behind the scenes that make stuff happen. I want to call them out!

Anne Cowan – Anne came to work with us about six months ago. I can’t imagine how I did anything without her. She is so amazing! And she puts up with me, all my wacky ideas. I can appreciate all the things she does for our department.

Kylie Goldade and Dominick Guadagno – I write about “being a shark” all the time. Students need to work hard and fight through their obstacles. These two students have this is spades. They keep fighting through setbacks and pushing their way up. Always upward. Kylie has had four major internships and is currently at the Cradle of Aviation. She joined as an unpaid intern and they ended up hiring her. Dom has been working in my lab. He keeps fighting through the usual set back after set back – but then secretly he designed and built a computer program for my lab that communicates with all the devices, gathers data, and has a friendly GUI to play with. Just amazing work and I should call them both out for it.

Jeff Trask – Jeff keeps out computers running. He has to deal with cranky faculty members all day whining about this or that. And he is always there with a smile making great things happen. “Oh, I need to install software on all the computers at the 11th hour.” Jeff’s got my back. I should be a better co-worker. I appreciate him and everything he does for Adelphi. 

He was so excited about our new 3D printer yesterday and I was like a bureaucrat and yelled “next”.  I too am excited.  I just have a lot on my plate. 

Jeff really works hard to make research and other good things on campus happen. He is such an ally to the physics department.

Tom Kramer – Speaking about having to deal with cranky faculty all day, Tom Kramer is on the top of that list. Thank you for being so effective and patient! I love our purchasing department.
