It was so amazing to have Thorlabs on campus today! They did a whole day of physics/photonics outreach for out high school partners. On the team Thorlabs today was Celeste Carbonell, Joe D’Elia, Noa Shaw, and Bill Warger.

We had over 200 high school students on campus today. Students came from Holy Trinity, Lindenhurst, Manhassett, Mineola, and Westbury.

In addition to Thorlabs, we had the a number of different stations for high school students:

Bill Warger from Thorlabs gave a great talk on careers. I might have spoken as well.

I made this fun Tiktok with all the students.

Professors Neda Nasari and Bryanne McDonough talked about theoricatal physics.

Professo Kevin Liang and Luis Rodriguez did Physics Demos

We even had Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science represented.

Professor Fricker showing off microbiology

Professor Prado-Oviedo discussed POOP! Seriously. It was awesome!

Professor VanAlstine-Parris was amazing in leading the Chemistry discussion. Unfortunately I was not able to get a picture of her today.

But I did get pictures of surprise visits from Professor Stockman and Professor Weeks!

And of course the day couldn’t have run without Anne Cowan – who puts everything together!

And super helpful students like Kylie Goldade

And here are all the other pictures. There are more.
