Today Dean Louise Geddes and I lead a faculty discussion titled “Career Readiness in the Liberal Arts: Exploring Possibilities at Adelphi”. Last week after our planning meeting, we were like no one is going is going to show up. We were so wrong! This meeting was amazing! So many awesome people came and they came with their even more amazing ideas! This is 100% why I work at Adelphi – I love working with great people!

Here are some takeaways from the meeting:

  • Help students achieve their personal career pathways through Gen Eds, First year seminars, and 1-credit career classes.
  • Encourage Professional Curiosity, in careers, in life, in discussion
  • Develop Career Pathways and Give Students Opportunities to Explore them Early
  • Develop Career Pathway Events, Panels, etc with:
    • Alumni
    • Board
    • Regional Companies
    • Career Center
    • Innovation center / Entrepreneurship
    • Study Abroad
  • Show how Liberal Arts Leads to Success
  • Do it NOW! Don’t wait!

Thank you to the Adelphi FCPE for helping us put together this event! The cookies were a big hit!
