Continuing to report on some of the projects from my Project Lab class. Today I am reporting out on two very different projects.

Micheal Ishal’s Hydroelectric Dam!

The water turns a wheel that turns a magnet which is place in a coil. This changes the magnetic flux in the coil and creates a voltage, which you can use to power batteries and such. The power generated is low, but he is just getting started.

Mukesh Machhal’s Traffic Light!

Mukesh was interested in engineering a real life system with signals. He took on the traffic light. His traffic light cycles through the range of lights, until it is disrupted by an external signal from a sensor and starts a new cycle. The tricky part is managing all the information from the sensors in some meaningful way.
