Go Bulldogs! On Tuesday January 27, our team (Andrew Danza, Dr. Daniel Gysbers, and myself) were at Lindenhurst high school. It is the first Lab for Kids of the season and a new school.

I have been really happy to continue to collaborate with Michael Smith – one of the award winning physics teachers at Lindenhurst High School. He brings so much joy to the classroom. And you can tell to. There was so much interest in physics and engineering among the students there. It was a super fun day!  I talked to some other awesome people through out the day too!

Fun Fact:  We considered moving to Lindenhurst at one point.

We tried something this year. During the last period of the day, I held a Be a Shark workshop where I promoted lessons I have gotten from years of experience as a college professor, shared in my Be a Shark book and in the book, Dream Schools by Jeff Selingo.

The students seemed very interested and all of the question time was taken. The presentation was a little rough around the edges. Some of the jokes fell a little flat. We will have to hone that in for the future. However, as a first attempt it was great start!

Here is a tiktok from the day:

Thank you again so much! The kids had a great time and I am definitely stealing the battery motor idea for next years E&M!
