I’m super excited to announce the Keynote speaker for Cosmic Pathways Chicago (October 17th 2026, Lewis University) is going to be Professor Rhett Allain! I am arguably his biggest fan.

Professor Allain has a strong internet presence. Check out his website! He is an author too! He writes for Wired! He has a number of books too! Has been a science advisor to Discovery’s MythBusters and CBS MacGyver! And he has a ton of physics videos that will help you study for your next exam.

I have to admit I have a personal connection with him although I’ve never met him in person.  About five years ago, I started writing for the general community about science and education issues.  Dr. Rhett Allain and I had a number of conversations on Twitter about physics, communication, and a host of other things. On numerous occasions, he gave me some really kind and effective advice that I internalized professionally. He was one of the people that helped me believe that I could be part of this community of scientists who spend time communicating about science.  And then I found out he is famous.  HAHA!  And yes, one of the great parts about planning conferences is that when you think about who you wanna get as the Keynote speaker, you can just reach out to the people you want to meet. That’s fun.

I am so excited Professor Rhett Allain will be speaking at Cosmic Pathways Chicago, October 17, 2026 at Lewis University.
