Yesterday was one of the most fun days of the year! It is the day when I am invited to speak to all the first year students at Adelphi about what the secret sauce to success is at Adelphi. A couple of years ago I made this great figure for it. Everything is the same, except of course the AI question has gotten more complicated.
I tried to make a tiktok, but it didn’t work. Sometimes that happens.
It’s the one day a year when I really channel my Stand-Up Comedian! I love that the University buys me candy to throw in the audience! It is the most fun talk I give. It is wild!

Adelphi University doubled down on me this year. They bought one of my Be a Shark: Secret Sauce to Success After High School for each ad every first year student. It was unbelievable! It was a great feeling when the students realized that I was also the author of the book. (Seriously one of my proudest moments.)
Getting 1200 books was nuts. SO MANY BOOKS! We had them delivered to me and not to Center for Student and Community Engagement – I was going to sign them all, but we ran out of time. So one day this summer I had to hand deliver all of the books. It was like 95 degrees that day. OMG, I was boiling.
Then I got to meet with Dr. Liang and all the incoming physics students. It was amazing!
Because I am on sabbatical, I left early. I did not hang around to matriculation ceremony. It was sad because I love matriculation and I really want to hear my friend Professor Melissa Van Alstine-Parris speak. Professor MVP is one of Adelphi’s best.
I want to give a special thank you to the Center for Student and Community Engagement for all their support and trust! Speaking to ALL first-year students is important. I am so thankful of the opportunity and proud to be part of such a great team.
