Running a conference is freaking hard! There are so many loose ends you have to tie up. Figuring out food orders, where to place signs, and who gets a room with 30 seats and who gets a room with 15 seats all seem easy but they are impossibly difficult. It’s like peeling an onion, there are so many layers to everything. Somethings are in your control and some things are definitely out of your control. And it all has to run perfectly and you only have one day to make it happen! For example, if you run out of food you are terrible. Also, food is the most expensive thing so you want to minimize how much you spend on it. People show up who didn’t sign up. People don’t come who signed up. Ouch – its hard to get the balance right! It ain’t easy.
Working this project with Dr. Joe Kozminski was easy. We just split everything up and then made it work! A year ago or so, Professor Kozminski and I were like, let’s do this thing in Chicago. We planned it together – mostly just the two of us. For context, Cosmic Pathways NYC has a leadership team of about 20 freaking awesome people doing amazing things. And I knew like three total people in Chicago. So we really relied on Professor Kozminski’s network. He made so many amazing things happen. I had time and was on sabbatical this semester. He was running a department and had no time! Yet he somehow made it work! He was amazing!
I want to send a big thank to Koz for throwing this party with me! It was so fun! I got to meet so many great people in Chicagoland. There is such a thriving, amazing community there.
The Lewis community is great! There are so many great faculty and students on campus doing cool things. It was nice to interject into their world for a short time. What a cool campus! It seems like a great place to study and/or work. Thank you for letting me bring Cosmic Pathways out to Chicago! I really enjoyed the experience!
